Proposed Cancellation of Department of Energy Fundamentals Training Handbooks

O’BRIEN (\ DIRECTOR V | OFFICE OF NUCLEAR SAFET OFFICE OF ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH, SAFETY AND SECURITY SUBJECT: Proposed Cancellation of Department of Energy Fundamentals Training Handbooks The Office of Nuclear Safety (AU-30) recommends the cancellation and archiving of the Handbooks in Attachment A, and submits this proposal for review and comment in accordance with the Department of Energy (DOE) Technical Standards Program (TSP). The Office of Nuclear Facility Safety Programs (AU-32), within AU-30 conducted a survey of DOE field and contractor training personnel which found the fundamentals training material to be relevant and useful, but that it does not need to be managed via the TSP. These Handbooks will be cancelled as active documents in the TSP and posted as Training Support Documents and Textbooks on a DOE Training Resources Site hosted by the National Training Center (NTC). The Handbooks will also be archived and remain available on the TSP Website. The NTC Training Resources Site provides a readily available location to post these documents; to provide a means for the training community to propose additional documents for posting; and to post questions, comments, and recommendations regarding the fundamentals training materials. The framework of the site is active and these Handbooks proposed for cancellation are posted as “Former DOE-HDBK-xxxx- xx” in categories.
