Cancellation of Department of Energy Handbook 1141-2008,
Radiological Assessor Traillillg
The Office of Worker Safety and Health Policy (AU-II) is proposing to cancel and archive
Department of Energy (DOE) Handbook 1141-2008, Radiological Assessor Trailling (DOE
HDBK-1141-2008), and submits this proposal for review and comment in accordance with
Technical Standards Program (TSP) procedures.
AU-II staff conducted a survey of DOE field and contractor training personnel and learned that
sites that conduct radiological assessor training as described in DOE Standard 1098-2008,
Radiological Con/rol, now have mature training programs, thus an update to DOE-HDBK-1141-
2008 is no longer needed. The survey found the standard was relevant and useful as archival
material; however, it was not directly used as a training guide and; therefore, was not needed to
be actively managed by the TSP. This handbook should be cancelled as an active document and
be archived on the TSP Web site.
The normal 60-day comment period is requested, which will begin once the document is posted
and available in RevCom.
